Efficacy of Apricot Kernel Decoction on Salivary Sialic Acid Level in Periodontitis

Background and Aim: This study was designed to explore the clinical utility of apricot kernel decoction on salivary glycoproteins in patients with periodontitis. Methods: The samples were obtained from 123 subjects divided into 4 groups, namely healthy individuals (healthy), non-treated periodontitis (control), chlorhexidine-treated (chlorhexidine) both (decoction + chlorhexidine). Salivary sialic acid level measured by means Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS). Calculus gingival Index evaluated Greene Vermillion Löe. Results: values chlorhexidine group significantly lower than (P<0.05) control (P<0.01). On other hand, decoction+ group, Gingival decreased compared (P<0.01, P<0.05, respectively). Conclusion: Our data suggest that can be used as mouthwash for treatment
